Welcome to Brau Brothers Brewing Co.

We are very excited to introduce Brau Brothers Brewing Company, LLC. We are a locally owned and operated brewery, producing strictly for a local and regional market. We like to stay close to the beer we produce as well as to the people who drink it. Our modest scale allows us to be more flexible, dynamic, and closer to retailers as well as beer drinkers.

Rainwater Oak Aged Stout is officially released. So far, very positive feedback. http://captainsbeerblog.com/2010/01/10/brau-brothers-rainwater-vsod-oak-aged-stout/ It was just a single batch, so most of it is gone here at the brewery. Drop me a not and let me know if you're having trouble finding it. Also - on Feb 8, I'll be talking about homebrewing in Windom from 6:30 - 8:00pm. We'll talk how-to's and why-for's with some demonstrations. Maybe even sample a couple beers. Email Kris for details and sign-up.

In case you missed it, http://kstp.com/news/stories/s1323930.shtml. Very good to see Lucan on the map. And no bald shots.

Our friends to the east at the Redwood Gazette ran a great story on Brau Bros - http://www.redwoodfallsgazette.com/news/x1682951466/Brau-Brothers-Brewing-Company-aims-to-put-Lucan-on-the-map - Awesome to get local pub. You’d be surprised how many people live in the region and still don’t know we’re here. Also, pond is froze over and I’m looking for my skates. Boot Hockey anyone?

Big news – Sunday, Dec 20th KSTP will be featuring Brau Bros between 10pm and 11pm on the news! Jason Davis of “On the Road with Jason Davis” came to Lucan and spent an afternoon with us. I believe it will replay on Monday between 11am and noon during the news, and again on Tuesday during “Twin Cities Live”. Just remember, he said that for some reason, t.v. makes you look like you have less hair than in real life. Remember that. Should be cool to see, we’re really looking forward to it. Our friends at the BrauHaus were also visited and hopefully they’ll be tv stars as well.

We’re cleaning up the brewery as we speak. Trying to make a silk purse out of a messy brewery. Rain or shine, HopFest will go on! If the weather is cool, we’ll shut the doors, enjoy the live music, and see how loud we can get! We’ve moved around some equipment for the new labeler, and it really opens up the brewery for a party like this. We’ve also installed 5 more tap lines. We now have 10 beers on tap at the brewery, it’s like being a kid in a candy store. There are a few more spots open for the Beer Dinner Friday night at the BrauHaus; I believe there are less than ten open seats left. The menu looks terrific! The chef took ground hops fresh from the grinder as we processed them. The BrauHaus is also hosting a HopFest After Party with karaoke Saturday night at 8pm. If you haven’t been to Lucan, the BrauHaus is well within stumbling distance from the Brewery.
Can’t wait till Saturday!!!

September 9, 2009...Here’s our lineup for Autumn Brew Review:
Ring Neck Braun Ale – Seasonal favorite from Brau Bros! Nutty, chocolaty, and complex with a hint of raspberry. Plenty of toasted malt, including toasted oats, gives this beer a great fall flavor.
Fresh Hop Lager 2009 – A first for Brau Bros; a fresh hopped Munich-Style Dunkel. A variety of whatever-was-ready-to-be-picked hops was picked and utilized on the same day. The hopyard resides roughly 150 feet from the brew kettle for a perfect fresh hop scenario. Imported and estate-grown malt still dominate the beer, however deep in the finish is a tell-tale grassy and floral edge provided by the wet hops.
Fresh Hopped Sheephead Ale Firkin – This hybrid of beer styles shows our homegrown hops well. Dry-hopped with loads of wet Cascade, this cask-conditioned ale leans a bit more toward candied orange rather than the more typical grapefruit. A unique beer in its own right, this is a unique take straight from the hopyard!
Lemongrass Infused Purple Sting Pin – A very unique buckwheat honey rye ale. A single batch of this beer was brewed for hot summer days around Lucan. Buckwheat honey from South Dakota meets locally grown rye for a very original flavor. Very earthy and a bit dry. Two versions will be served; one infused with lemongrass and one without - both cask-conditioned for enhanced flavor!

See ya there!!

Fall is busy here at the brewery! Ring Neck production is well under way, with the official release date Oct 10. Also preparing for HopFest on that same date. Something special being brewed for release sometime this winter – details in the near future. Old 56 has done extremely well locally, and were anxious to put it in bottles. We found a brand new (to us) labeler that will automate the process and make us a bit more efficient. It will also allow us to add a neck label. Dad is busy refurbing the machine and we hope to have it online in a couple weeks. Seemed like a good time to do a label redesign, and that is happening as we speak. We are officially in full blown hop harvest mode. Nuggets are about done, Hallertauer is completely done, and Fuggle should be done today. A good chunk is picked, dried, sealed, and in storage already. Which reminds me, we did a Fresh Hop Lager this year, for something different. It’s somewhat similar to a Munich Dunkel, but finishes with a trademark grassy/tea flavor which is textbook wet hops. We’ll have it for HopFest, and Ken at the BrauHaus has already asked for kegs. Also fresh hopped some Sheephead in the cask; one will be at ABR next weekend. Purple Sting, a Buckwheat Honey Rye Ale, is now on tap in Lucan, in Sioux Falls, and will being heading Twin Cities way very soon. Very distinct beer. See everyone at HopFest!!!
Take care,
Dustin
